Lacquer Bead Polishing Workshop Duration: Approximately 3 hours By the end of the workshop, participants will complete a set of polished lacquer beads, gaining hands-on experience and a deeper understanding of this ancient Chinese craft tradition. Hands-on Experience Participants will take part in the intricate process of polishing lacquer beads under the guidance of experienced artisans. This workshop focuses on tactile learning and careful craftsmanship rather than mass production. Traditional Techniques Learn traditional lacquer polishing techniques passed down through generations, and understand how patience, rhythm, and material sensitivity shape the final result. Cultural Significance Explore the cultural and historical significance of lacquer art in China, with particular attention to rhinoceros hide lacquer, a highly respected technique often regarded as a national treasure in Chinese craftsmanship. Important Note Lacquer materials may contain allergens that could trigger reactions in some individuals. This workshop does not include direct lacquer application and focuses solely on polishing pre-dried lacquer pieces. Protective equipment such as gloves, masks, and aprons will be provided if needed.
